This report captures the outcomes of one of ADEA’s high level regional ministerial policy forums on leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for inclusive, quality, and equitable education provision and lifelong learning for all. The report highlights issues from the knowledge sharing among policymakers, experts, and stakeholders on ways to effectively and efficiently integrate ICT to enhance education and training systems across Africa.
Key topics discussed included integrating ICT into national education policies, empowering marginalized populations through ICT-based initiatives, developing TVET for youth employment, ICT and education in areas and regions affected by crises and conflicts, and applying ICT in STEM education. The forum emphasized the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships, shared leadership, and policy coherence to overcome challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, low ICT skills, and limited access to technology.
The proceedings highlighted successful ICT integration models – such as public-private partnerships and innovative teacher training programs – and provided strategic recommendations for policymakers. These include developing clear ICT strategies, ensuring inclusive access to technology, promoting digital literacy, and fostering sustainable development through education. The forum concluded with a call to action for African governments and stakeholders to prioritize ICT integration in education to drive socio-economic development.
