Abstract

This study, commissioned by the Institut Français as part of the États Généraux du Livre en langue française, proposes the creation of a digital platform dedicated to French-language books. The primary objective is to promote literary and intellectual diversity in French worldwide. The platform seeks to expand access to French-language works, stimulate exchanges among book professionals, and incorporate digital innovations.

Key points include the platform’s alignment with initiatives such as the 2017 Frankfurt Book Fair and meetings organized by the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) in Geneva, underscoring the significance of French-language books for multilateral development. The platform aims to facilitate access to French-language literary creation, establish a dynamic publishing space based on cooperation, encourage mobility, and integrate new technologies. The study is based on preliminary analyses, data collection, and consultations with industry professionals. The project unfolds in multiple phases over six years, including the development of an Observatory, a statistical database, and a resource center, along with the proposal of a long-term governance structure to ensure the project’s sustainability.
