In 2018, Senegal initiated the second phase of the Programme to Improve Quality, Equity, and Transparency in the Education and Training Sector (PAQUET), a comprehensive sector strategy aligned with SDG-4 and spanning from 2018 to 2030. One of PAQUET’s primary objectives is to enhance the quality of classroom education in Senegal.
This edition of the Africa Learning Together (ALT) knowledge series features insights from Mr. Mor Dioum, Inspector of Elementary Education at Senegal's Ministry of National Education. Mr. Dioum discusses the efforts to build teacher capacity at the foundational learning (FL) level amidst the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the declining numbers of quality teachers. He emphasizes the need for strategic measures to improve FL teaching quality to meet PAQUET’s sector goals.
The discussion highlights the critical steps necessary to support and develop teachers, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide high-quality education and achieve the program's long-term objectives.
